The Enactments are explorations of the relation of my own body to my ancestors’. By moving through powdered charcoal on paper, picking it up with my own skin, and creating ghost forms and fragmentary body images, I am approaching my history through my physical present. I experience through my limbs and skin what has been retained from my ancestors.
The works are living, eventually greying and burying themselves as air moves through the room. Each one is at least 6ft x 8ft
